E.g., the ubiquitous Apple logo not only stands for the Apple, Inc. But it also shouts innovation, sleekness and cutting edge technology and design. On the other hand, an Inca icon on a business card or poster instantly conjures up hidden treasure, secrets, ancient civilisations and chocolate!

The right font can communicate how you want your business to be seen. A home business producing jams might benefit from a country-style font to communicate the 'country lifestyle'. Adversely, a home business providing expensive degustation station-style dinners might need to select more sleek, unadorned fonts against a luxurious black background on a high quality cardstock.

Colour too, should not be chosen lightly. A Middle Eastern or Indian themed wedding is best communicated onto a wedding invitation using vibrant (often clashing) colours like orange, pink and red. An Australian country wedding invitation might choose browns, greens and blues to reflect the native country scenes. A monochrome business cards tends to imply a strict, highly professional business while health-related businesses often choose greens and blues to imply stability.
